Church Point Drug Bust Nets 4 Arrests

25-year-old Lawrence Joseph Leday, 24-year-old Emily Ledet, 28-year-old Eugene Wheeler, and 27-year-old Shaniqua Wheeler - all of Church Point - are all behind bars after a Sunday drug bust at a home on 440 E Plaqumine St.

Church Point Police Narcotics Division officers say they found synthetic marijuana, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, pill, a SKS Rifle with an extended magazine, as well as several items believed to be stolen and traded for drugs were found in the home during the raid. Officers also say they recovered a black binder containing old collector basketball cards.

"We ask that if you have had anything recently stolen and have not made a complaint, look at the pictures," says a press release posted to the Church Point Police Department Facebook page. "If you see anything that resembles your stolen property, come in so we may verify it. As my commitment to the community we are and will continue to conduct a fight against drug dealers in our town."

Since January of 2019, this is the third time this home has been busted by Church Point PD. The suspects were out on bond from previous drug arrest at the time of this arrest.

A small child was also present at the time of the bust and was released to a family member.

Further Charges Are Pending Further Investigation.
