Church Point Man Arrested On Incest Charge

CHURCH POINT, La. (KPEL) -- A 52-year-old man was arrested Thursday amid allegations he had sexual contact with a 3-year-old family member.

According to Capt. Megan Vizena with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, police received a complaint on Dec. 7 from the mother of the alleged victim who stated that Michael Melancon of Church Point may have had inappropriate sexual contact with her child.

Melancon was arrested after an investigation, Vizena said, and he was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on a charge of aggravated incest.
