Cocktail Museum Coming To New Orleans
Imagine being able to walk through polished halls and take in exhibits and explain to your companions, "that's the one I will never touch again."
Such is our relationship with cocktails and beginning next year fans of the spirit world can take a tour as described above through a museum of drink, New Orleans style.
Governor John Bell Edwards was on hand Wednesday in the Big Easy as the Sazerac Company broke ground on a museum dedicated to the inebriated. Well, to the stuff that sometimes makes us inebriated.
I happen to be an Old Fashioned fan,but I like a good Sazerac on occasion as well.
The Sazerac is the official cocktail of the city of New Orleans. In a story published by reporter Todd A. Prince on NOLA.com and in the Times-Picayune, it was quite evident that Sazerac CEO Mark Brown was very enthusiastic about adding one more attraction to the New Orleans area.
If I spontaneously combust in front of you it is out of sheer excitement.
The five-story complex that houses the three-story museum will also house corporate offices and will give the company a downtown address at 500 Canal Street. The building will occupy a 48 thousand square foot space in a building that dates back to the 1860's.
The Sazerac cocktail is synonymous with the New Orleans area since it became a part of the drinking culture in the middle 1800's at the Sazerac coffee houses.
