Court Sides With Officers In St. Martin Taser Case

On Tuesday, a federal appeals court rejected claims by relatives of Othello Pierre that St. Martin Parish deputies used excessive force on him at a family 4th of July party. In July of 2008, officers were called to the party after getting complaints that the St. Martinville man was causing a disturbance. Authorities say Pierre tried to run away when they tried to issue a warrant. Deputies then tasered Pierre, who died about an hour later.
