Derrick Todd Lee Gets More Time For Appeal

Attorneys for alleged serial killer Derrick Todd Lee have until April 15 to prepare the latest appeal of his conviction and death sentence for a murder in 2002.

State District Judge Richard Anderson told attorney Gary Clements that may be his last deadline. As he put it: "Uncle Sam will give you an extension easier than I will."

Clements tells The Advocate that several law enforcement agencies have been slow to respond to subpoenas he filed seeking documents related to the Lee investigation.

Anderson presided over the trial in 2004 that ended with Lee's conviction for killing 22-year-old Charlotte Murray Pace, who was killed in her home on May 31, 2002
