Today on 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' Lafayette Parish School Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper stressed the importance of a vote for the tax millage renewal on November 6th.

According to Cooper,

Everything we are doing with the "Six Year Turn-Around Plan" is based on the funding we have today. this millage is going to be hugely important.  It's a renewal so it doesn't require any additional taxes but certainly what we're getting from that is about $26 million per year or approximately 11 per cent of our budget.

In addition Dr. Cooper said,

It's not about building schools, it's all about operational expenses including salaries and technology in the classrooms...Not having this renewal would stop us dead in our tracks in trying to improve the school system.
