Today on 'Mornings with Ken and Bernie' city-parish President Joey Durel applauded the efforts of everyone who made recent events at the UL Horse Farm successful.  Last Thursday the Horse Farm was the site of a major fundraiser called Moonlight on the Meadow and raised nearly $400,000.  The gala event featured food and music by Marc Broussard and the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra.  On Saturday Durel said the free event called Howdy to the Horse Farm introduced children to the farm to create lasting memories.  According to Durel,

Tom Carrol and the entire public works department are to be congratulated on a job well done.  Tom and all the crews went above the call of duty to insure that the grounds were safe for people visiting and the horses that were there for demonstration purposes.

Children were asked to bring change to donate to the Horse Farm so they could feel like they had bought into the project. Durel said,

It was great to see so many families there taking pictures that would serve as personal history for these children when they would bring their children to the Farm in years to come.
