NEW ORLEANS (AP) — High school entrepreneurs won $10,000 with a business plan to turn old band uniforms into carryall bags.

The team from Karr High School beat out three other New Orleans-area schools in a contest sponsored by Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who provided the big prize from his foundation.

Brees and his wife were two of the six judges at Monday's event.

The Times-Picayune reported that students were responsible for every step of the business from the conception to marketing. Each team was partnered with a local entrepreneur who provided a $1,000 startup grant.

The other projects included importing handmade bracelets from Africa, creating inexpensive and comfortable T-shirts and the herbal tea business.
