to the stage after a five year absence.

The return of this historic tradition has been anticipated by many, asked for every year, and will come back bigger and better than ever with a new tree structure, a new state of the art lighting system, and a Broadway style show.

"Performances featuring the tree were a favorite of people in Acadiana during the 80's and 90's, but it has only been used once in about fifteen years," said John Frank Reeve, Minister of Music at First Baptist.  "We are responding to requests both from our members and the community at large to bring back this tradition."

"Christmas Fantasia 2010" will be a fully-staged Christmas spectacular hosted by First Baptist Lafayette designed to celebrate the joy of Christmas. The entire family will be inspired and entertained with this year’s presentation. The production will include children and adult choirs, the church orchestra, and a large drama cast.

While many favorite Christmas songs are included, Reeve notes that "we've added some new songs and some new arrangements of old songs to make sure that the program is fresh and entertaining for all ages."  Matinee performances are included to make it convenient for families with children to attend.

Performances of "Christmas Fantasia 2010" are Friday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 12, at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Performances will be at the church located at 1100 Lee Avenue in downtown Lafayette.
