Former LHA Members Seek Charges

At a news conference yesterday, three members of the Lafayette Housing Authority Board of Directors announced they will be seeking charges against seven people, including Lafayette Parish President Joey Durel.  Board members Joe Dennis, John Freeman and Leon Simmons say they want Durel and the others to face charges of abusing their power, conspiracy, obstruction, misrepresentation, conflicts of interest and fraud.  The LHA has been under scrutiny ever since the release of a state audit that uncovered financial irregularities.  Durel has been seeking the removal of Dennis, Freeman and Simmons from the board.
