The New Iberia Police Department had a sobriety checkpoint on Friday night.

Major John Babin says that 320 vehicles were screened during the July 5 event.

Of all the people that went through the checkpoint, police arrested four people on DWI charges.

Those arrested include:

  • Larry Myers for DWI First Offense
  • Trey Evans for DWI First Offense and Improper Lane Usage
  • Donald Chanet for DWI Second Offense and Driving Under Suspension
  • Blake Mire for DWI First Offense

Six people took a breathalyzer test, and the above four were arrested.

In addition to the arrests, there were twenty citations issues for various offenses.
