From Those Wonderful Folks Who Fleece You Each Year [OPINION]
Now comes the horrifying thought that they will soon be enforcing Obamacare. More about that later.
The unraveling scandal at the Internal Revenue Service is just one more reason to scrap and/or reform the tax code and severely restrict the power of this obviously corrupted tax enforcement agency over our lives.
As others have noted, the latest scandal is a symptom of an ever-speading disease -that of using government rules and regulations to bludgeon citizens into compliance with the ruling elite’s grand schemes. It’s a sad and frightening spectacle of an overreaching bureaucracy all too willing to usurp the rights of the individual to accomplish the goals of the state.
This latest scandal is the culmination of years of power grabbing by the Washington politburo in both parties, but to a greater degree with the Democrats. The very idea that the most powerful agency in government would single out for punitive action one segment of the population based on ideology should be enough to jar a somnambulent citizenry into action. That action being to contact our representatives in Congress and tell them to finally seize the opportunity to limit the reach of the unelected, unaccountable bureaucracy that is the IRS.
Reforming the IRS can only happen if the more than seventy thousand page tax code is completely scrapped or substantially simplified. There has never been a better time than now, before this hapless bunch of miscreants gets its hands on our health care, too. A thought too scary to contemplate. To paraphrase P. J. O’Rourke: Government is too big, too stupid and too greedy to have this kind of power over our lives.
We hope and pray our duly elected representatives heed the call and seize the day. The time to act is now.
