CLINTON, La. (AP) — An East Feliciana Parish grand jury has indicted four men on first-degree murder charges in the death of a Clinton man who walked into a confrontation on Aug. 8.

On Tuesday, the grand jury returned the indictments against Jerald Matthews, Quinton Loyell and Eric Keller, all of Clinton, and Cordero Morgan of Baton Rouge.

Police says 42-year-old Isaac Simmons was hit and killed by a bullet as he walked along a street where a drug deal, in which he was not involved, turned into an armed robbery attempt and shooting.

District Attorney Sam D'Aquilla said in a news release received by The Advocate Keller is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 9, while the other three are expected to appear for arraignment Oct. 16.
