Grant Money Coming To Louisiana To Combat Opioid Issues

Facilities across the state of Louisiana are splitting $6.8 million of grant money that is coming from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to battle the opioid problem in our state.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy says the money and attention that federal officials have been paying to combat the epidemic is finally paying off as the number of deaths from opioids fell last year for the first time in three decades.

There are four facilities in the Acadiana area that will be receiving grant money including the following:

Iberia Comprehensive Com Health Center, Inc. in New Iberia

Southwest Louisiana Primary Health Care Center, Inc. in Opelousas

SWLA Center For Health Services in Lake Charles

The Teche Action Board in Franklin

All of these facilities will be receiving $167,000 in grant money.
