Groundbreaking Tuesday For “Community Roots”
This Tuesday, a groundbreaking for the first "Community Roots" project will take place at 1:30 in the afternoon. The location for the event will be the corner of Berlin and Scottsdale Streets.
Citizens of Lafayette will be joined by EarthShare Gardens, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office and Lafayette Consolidated Government employees along with elected officials for a groundbreaking for the "Community Roots" project with a fruit orchard planting. This will be Lafayette's first such endeavor, and it will be located at the Illes de Cannes Community Center. "Community Roots" is a partnership between EarthShare Gardens, the sheriff's office, Lafayette's Traffic department along with the Planning Division and the Community Development Division. The funds for the trees were donated after people gave to the project to the Community Foundation of Acadiana.
