For many people across the Acadiana region, figuring out how to manage their housing needs can be extremely difficult during a pandemic.

President Joe Biden did issue an executive order that puts a moratorium on evictions for people who are renting. Many people have lost their jobs, or they may be working less hours since the pandemic started.

This week, the Acadiana Housing Alliance will join Housing Louisiana for a listening tour to find out about issues that are at the forefront for people in this region.

They are asking anyone who is interested in this topic to join their zoom meeting. Leigh Rachel with ARCH of Acadiana says, via a press release, that "Community feedback is welcomed and appreciated." ARCH stands for the Acadiana Regional Coaltion on Homelessness and Housing. The group is made up of people who are working to end people who experience homelessness in an eight-parish region.

The goal of the listening tour is to help officials understand betters the problems that people face when it comes to affordable housing. They are continuing to gather information so that they can help to better develop priorities when it comes to those who are struggling to find safe, affordable housing.

Anyone in the community can take part in Thursday's meeting simply by joining the Zoom meeting. All you have to is dial into this number at noon on Thursday: 1-312-626-6799. The meeting ID number is 97255997879#.

Experts from the field will be on the call to share with everyone on what the current housing crisis looks like in the state. They will also address some of the issues and potential solution to these issues.
