There has been a lot of talk about the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, dealing with illness.  And given her 81 years, you are forced to think of the most dreadful thing, knowing full well that you don't want to.

Britain's royalty has been something of a fascination for Americans and we continue to watch what the Princes are doing, whether it be becoming a father, or appearing naked in Las Vegas.  Regardless, when you think about the royals, you tend to remember that Elizabeth is probably the right one to have on the throne.  She seems the most royal of all of them.

Which begs the question.  Is the world ready when Elizabeth passes on or leaves the throne in favor of Charles?  I have to wonder.

Granted, Prince Charles does very little these days and the royals are generally not considered anything except a figurehead for a largely democratic Britain.  Still, there are many that do not think highly of Charles for a variety of reasons, not least of which was divorcing Princess Diana in favor of who he is married to now.

I have to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he probably would be fine in the role of King.  Still, Elizabeth is much better from a PR standpoint than her son would be.

I hope that Elizabeth continues to be on the mend.  I hope that mostly for her sake, but I can't help but have that lingering doubt in my mind about Prince Charles.

How about you?  Let me know in the comments section below.
