Listen to Final Call For U.S. Marshal Shot and Killed in Louisiana

(Alexandria, Louisiana) - U.S. Marshal Deputy Drew Hanson was laid to rest in Alexandria after he was killed in the line of duty.

Deputy Hanson was shot and killed on July 13, 2026, while executing a warrant for a man who was wanted.

While on the property of the man wanted, Hanson was shot and killed while in the line of duty.

Since then, Deputy Hanson has been buried and laid to rest with so many of his colleagues by his side in a respectful and honorable ceremony.

Funeral Service for U.S. Marshal Shot in Louisiana

After the services, just as Deputy Hanson's body was to be loaded into an armored truck used by police, a final call was made out to the fallen U.S. Marshal.

When dispatch did not return the call, Deputy Hanson's badge number was retired as many stood near the armored truck, while his casket awaited load-in.

Dispatch noted that those standing alongside him would take the calls from here, and that Deputy Hanson did what he loved most, serving and protecting our country.

According to the U.S Marshal's Office,

"Deputy Hasnon joined the U.S. Marshals Service in 2020 with assignments in the Southern District of Alabama and the Western District of Louisiana. Prior to the USMS, he worked with Customs and Border Protection in Nogales, Arizona, then worked for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in New Orleans. Before that, he served with the Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Police Department, the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and the Gulfport Police Department."
