Blue Bell Ice Cream Fans Snapping Up New Treat They Can’t Eat
In the small Texas town of Brenham, they create a sweet treat that almost all of Louisiana loves. You see Brenham, Texas is a community of about 16,000 residents. It's in Washington County Texas. Brenham is the home of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Those tantalizing tubs of frozen greatness and a really special German heritage celebration are the two things that put Brenham on the map.
And while we are not here to discuss bratwurst and Weiner schnitzel as we might if this story was about Brenham's German heritage, we are here to talk about ice cream, sort of. I think it's a safe bet to assume that we all have our favorite Blue Bell flavor. But what's new from the creamery doesn't even have a flavor. In fact, I think they'd want you to not put this new treat from Blue Bell in your mouth.
But you might wear it to church or to a soccer game or to a family reunion because the latest offering from Blue Bell is not ice cream at all. It's jewelry. Okay, the jewelry is from Texas jeweler James Avery. Avery has created a charm that very accurately replicates a tub of Blue Bell ice cream.
How much would you be willing to pay for such a delightful and tasteful piece of jewelry? Well, based on my Mississippi Public School math you could either buy this charm to wear on a bracelet or you could instead spend that money on about 11 half gallons of Blue Bell's Gold Rim ice cream.
The charm is 5/16 of an inch long and about 7/16 inches wide. It's about the size of an adult molar, you know those teeth in the back of your mouth that hurt really bad when you eat your Blue Bell ice cream too fast? Yeah, that's how big or small depending on your point of view the charm is. The suggested retail price is about $88 bucks. The charm is created in sterling silver and bronze and it's suggested that it be worn on a bracelet, necklace, or anklet.
Nah, if it's all the same, I'll take my charms in actual ice cream. And who knows, maybe we can stop at Buc-ee's on the way back to Louisiana. You probably didn't think we'd thought about Blue Bell and Buc-ee's but we did.
