LOUISIANA (KMDL-FM) - Soy sauce might already be sitting in your fridge, but chances are…you’re not using it to its full potential.
A simple kitchen trick going viral online is showing how the lid of Kikkoman soy sauce has been hiding a secret in plain sight, and once you see it, it will change the way you use this delicious sauce forever.
Kikkoman Soy Sauce Bottle Hack
Kikkoman soy sauce is one of the most recognized and widely used soy sauces in the world, and for good reason. Unlike many cheaper soy sauces that are chemically produced, Kikkoman is made using a traditional brewing method that dates back centuries in Japan.

From fried rice to stir-fry, marinades for meats such as chicken, beef, and pork, to dipping sauces, to soups and broths, Kikkoman soy sauce has remained a staple in kitchens across America since the late 1950s.
Even though we've all been very familiar with Kikkoman and the iconic Kikkoman soy sauce red-topped bottle for over 70 years in the U.S., there's a secret that has been hiding in plain sight.

What Are The Holes For On The Kikkoman Lid?
A recent Instagram video posted by creator Elly Curshen has going viral for exposing exactly what the two holes on the Kikkoman soy sauce lid are actually for.

Rather than clumsily letting the sauce flow freely (as I have been for years of my life), all you need to do is place a finger on one of the holes dispensing from the two-sided lid. By doing so, it stops the flow of air and lets you easily measure out exact dosages for any recipe.

Hold your finger firmly against one of the holes on the lid, and the soy sauce will stop flowing from the other, meaning no spills, no splashes, and complete control.
