South Louisiana’s Biggest Unsolved Cold Cases

According to Project: Cold Case, there are currently 11,244 unsolved murders in Louisiana.

In just New Orleans and Baton Rouge alone there are well over 1,000 unsolved murders and cold cases involving missing people.

Unfortunately, Acadiana has quite a few cold cases on the books, and we're going to take a look at few that local law authorities are working hard to solve.

Louisiana Cold Cases

Dating all the way back to 1965, Louisiana currently has 11,244 unsolved cold cases.

When it comes to solving cold cases, there are several key factors that contribute to making it happen.

Advancements in DNA technology such as genetic genealogy, which involves matching crime scene DNA with public genealogy databases, have helped solve numerous cold cases.

Enhanced fingerprint analysis, digital forensics, and improved crime scene reconstruction software has also played a big role in solving cold cases.

Improved database cross referencing between law enforcement agencies, public and media involvement has also played an increasing role in helping to solve cold cases that have been on the books for decades.

1. Crystal Grebinger - Missing from Lafayette Louisiana.

Has not been seen or heard from since February 8, 2013.

Grebinger was 32-years-old at the time of her disappearance.

2. Jaret Senegal - Missing from Crowley, Louisiana.

Has not been seen or heard from since November 7, 2000.

Girlfriend was cooking supper and Jaret left and never returned.

Senegal was 30-years-old at the time of his disappearance.

3. Rebecca Conn - Missing from Lafayette, Louisiana.

Has not been seen or heard from since January 8, 2019.

Conn was 34-years-old at the time of her disappearance.

4. Donna Gonzales - Missing from Rayne, Louisiana.

Has not been seen or heard from since April 7, 1992.

Last seen in Rayne, LA selling cancer policies door-to-door.

Gonzales was 27-years-old at the time of her disappearance.

5. Earl Kidder, Jr. - Missing from Opelousas, Louisiana.

Has not been seen or heard from since March 28, 2010.

"Earl Kidder Jr. went fishing with two friends on March 28, 2010 and phoned saying the fishing was going well. However, he never showed up the next morning to attend with his ill mom to a physician appointment.

His sister says he was picked up by a friend for a weekend fishing trip in the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area. The car his friend picked him up in, was found extensively burned in Sherburne by Wildlife and Fisheries agents."

Kidder was 39-years-old at the time of his disappearance.

6. James Shepard - Missing from Church Point, Louisiana.

Has not been seen or heard from since April 10, 2008.

Last seen in Church Point on foot.

Shepard was 45-years-old at the time of his disappearance.

7. Keshia Sylvester - Missing from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Has not been seen or heard from since September 22, 2017.

Sylvester was 29-years-old at the time of her disappearance.

8. Judy Gary - Missing from St. Martinville, Louisiana

Has not been seen or heard from since August 1, 1986.

"Went to the pharmacy on foot to run an errand for her mother and never returned from the pharmacy. At the time of her disappearance, she was married and had a child.

She disappeared sometime in late summer/August 1986-the exact date is unknown."

Gary was 19-years-old at the time of her disappearance.

9. Keiosha Felix - Missing from Duson, Louisiana.

Has not been or heard from since April 30, 2012.

Felix was 15-years-old at the time of her disappearance.
