FEMA announced today that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Louisiana to help with response efforts due to emergency conditions from Hurricane Francine.

President Joe Biden's signature authorizes FEMA to coordinate disaster relief efforts to alleviate the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on Louisianians. It also provides appropriate assistance to save lives, protect property, public health and safety, and lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in the designated areas.

The declaration further specifies that "FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency."

Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance and reimbursement for mass care including evacuation and shelter support, will be provided at 75% federal funding for the following parishes:

  • Acadia
  • Allen
  • Ascension
  • Assumption
  • Avoyelles
  • Calcasieu
  • Cameron
  • Concordia
  • East Baton Rouge
  • East Feliciana
  • Evangeline
  • Iberia
  • Iberville
  • Jefferson
  • Lafayette
  • Lafourche
  • Livingston
  • Orleans
  • Plaquemines
  • Pointe Coupee
  • St. Bernard
  • St. Charles
  • St. Helena
  • St. James
  • St. John the Baptist
  • St. Landry
  • St. Martin
  • St. Mary
  • St. Tammany
  • Tangipahoa
  • Terrebonne
  • Vermilion
  • Washington
  • West Baton Rouge
  • West Feliciana

Sandra L. Eslinger has been named the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected areas.
