
FDA Issues Highest-Risk Recall for Vegetable Sold at Louisiana Walmart Stores
The FDA is warning Louisiana residents to check their refrigerators for a recalled vegetable sold at Walmart.

The Food and Drug Administration previously issued this recall toward the end of December. However, they have now upgraded the recall to a 'Class I,' which is considered the most serious recall category.
Listeria Monocytogenes was discovered in multiple samples of Marketside Broccoli Florets distributed by Braga Fresh of Salinas, California in December and a recall was initiated on December 27th for 20 states including Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
What Vegetable Product Is Being Recalled At Louisiana Walmart Stores?
Now, the recall for the Marketside Broccoli Florets has been upgraded to a 'Class I'. Consumers are urged to check for the following details:
- Lot Code - BFFG327A6
- Brand - Marketside
- Best-by date - Dec.10th 2024
According to the FDA's website, the recall is still ongoing. Consumers are also urged to check their freezers and throw out the recalled product.
In 2024, there were quite a few recalls issued due to listeria contamination, some involving packaged salads and frozen fruit, others involving dairy products, but the most notable was the Boar's Head Deli meat recall.

What is Listeria Monocytogenes?
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause listeriosis, a serious foodborne illness. Symptoms can appear anywhere from a few hours to 70 days after consuming contaminated food, which is why you will oftentimes see recalls involving Listeria monocytogenes long after the best-by date of the product.
Symptoms may include:
- Fever
- Chills
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
In Severe Cases:
- Severe headache
- Stiff neck
- Confusion or disorientation
- Loss of balance
- Seizures
