Half Shell Oyster House in Lafayette has reportedly closed permanently, according to the restaurant’s official website and growing conversations across local foodie groups online.

The Lafayette restaurant was located at 109 Camp Road Suite 114 near Costco in Ambassador Town Center, tucked into a busy retail area near Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Kaliste Saloom Road.

While the area itself sees heavy traffic daily, many customers now say the restaurant may have suffered from being somewhat hidden from view.

Several locals commenting online mentioned that they often forgot the restaurant was there, despite enjoying the food and atmosphere whenever they visited.

Attempts to contact the restaurant by phone were unsuccessful as of publication.

Another commenter added, “I do feel like a lot of people would forget it was there. It wasn’t ‘in my face’ when we were trying to decide where to eat.”

Others expressed disbelief because they had recently eaten there and said service and food quality seemed fine.

“We were there on Sunday,” one customer commented. “Everything was served fast and delicious.”

Some Former Customers And Employees Raise Questions

Not all comments focused solely on the location.

One anonymous commenter claimed they recently experienced unusual conditions during a visit, describing smoke and kitchen issues during service.

Another anonymous commenter who claimed to have worked there said the restaurant often struggled with low customer turnout.

“Maybe had two or three tables a night,” the person wrote.

At this time, there has been no official public statement explaining the closure or confirming the reason behind it.

Lafayette Continues To See Restaurant Turnover

The closure comes as Lafayette continues to see a mix of restaurant openings and sudden closures throughout the city’s fast-changing dining scene.

For many locals, Half Shell Oyster House stood out as a reliable seafood and date-night option tucked away in one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors.

As of now, the Lafayette location is listed as permanently closed online.

If more information becomes available regarding the closure, this story will be updated.
