Stunning Photos and Video Shows Extensive Work Being Done on I-10 Overpass

This is a major job.

By now you that the I-10 overpass at I-49 in Lafayette was damaged a few weeks ago when the boom of a tractor, that was being hauled without the proper permit, struck and damaged the structure.

Since then, there have been lane closures at this major intersection, but the repairs are underway.

Photos and video show that this is no easy fix and that a lot of equipment has been brought in to replace the parts of the overpass that were damaged.

What we did not know what how much detail would go into this fix and that this would take several weeks to fix and replace the damaged parts on the I-10 overpass.

As you will see here, a portion of the I-10 overpass was removed and will have to be replaced with new beams and a new surface.

Again, a lot of planning has gone into this repair, and crews ask that you plan to detour if you travel this route in the days and weeks ahead.
