Justin Centanni said he can't believe he's reading about the city of Lafayette when he opens up the newspaper and reads about the "antics of the [Lafayette Parish School Board].

Centanni, who is running for school board in District 6, a seat currently occupied by Greg Awbrey, said he would seek to "evaluate every issue that comes up on its own merits" if elected and not approach a situation with his "mind made up."

"I solve problems everyday," Centannie said, "and I think what the board needs is a passionate problem solvers who are focused on the students and the quality of education that we're providing them."

Centanni said school system Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper's 100 Percent In, 100 Percent Out Plan needed to be fully funded, and he believed that if trust with the school board among voters was restored, a new tax could be passed to help fund the Turnaround Plan, as well as badly needed facilities improvements.

According to his website, Centanni is Assistant Vice President, Database Analyst for IberiaBank. He attended E.D. White High School in Thibodaux, and two of his children are in the Lafayette Parish School System.
