Lafayette Bicyclist Dies in Thursday Night Crash

54-year-old Paul Attwood of Lafayette is dead after a crash Thursday night in the 1600 block of Surrey Street.  

Lafayette Police say it happened around 7:30 p.m. when Attwood – while on his bicycle – was struck by the driver of a Lincoln Navigator who was traveling in the same direction as Attwood – southbound. Officers say the bicyclist was traveling without lighting. 

The driver of the SUV was not injured. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor for the driver. 

The crash remains under investigation.
