In ten days the work of many people in Lafayette will be seen by the public as the Lafayette Comprehensive Plan Vision is set to be made available.  The comprehensive planning process has been in the works for months now after the council approved the spending for the project.

The unveiling of vision statement will happen on Saturday, June 30th at the Horse Farm on Johnston Street.  The property was just acquired this week in a deal between Lafayette Consolidated Government and the University System Of Louisiana Board of Directors.

The project was completed after six community forums and "meetings in a box" by any group who held one.  The gathering of the information was put together in a vision statement after all of the details of the public information tabulated. Plans for the vision statement event are being coordinated by the Comprehensive Plan Citizens Advisory Committee and will be finalized over the coming ten days.

"Hundreds of citizens joined the planning effort in the first round of community input in the planning process," said City-Parish President Joey Durel. "Our planning consultants at WRT have been sorting, grouping, tabulating and distilling hundreds of ideas that Lafayette residents expressed about the community’s future and consolidating it into a vision statement. Your input on this vision statement is important, as it will represent our shared destination and guide for the development of the comprehensive plan to come."

If you would like to attend the event, parking will be available that day next to Horse Farm in the Regions Bank parking lot which is in the Winnwood Shopping Center at 2901 Johnston Street.
