Lafayette Police are putting out another call for anyone who has any information on this fatal shooting to call their Criminal Investigation Division directly at 337-291-8650 or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS. If you were traveling near the area of Surrey, Ninth, Eighth, or Ransome Streets between the hours of 9 am until noon on Thursday, January 14, 2021 (the day of the homicide) and witnessed anything or you were detoured for any reason, please call them.

UPDATE: Lafayette Police need your help identifying the suspect pictured below. He is described as a black male wearing a blue and white or camouflage shirt, white jogger pants that had a black stripe down the side, a black beanie, and dark colored shoes.

UPDATE: The victim, 26-year-old Derrick Williams of Lafayette, has died from his injuries.

A suspect has still not been identified.

A person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen is in the hospital listed in critical condition.

Lafayette Police say the shooting happened on Thursday in the 1000 block of 9th Street. According to an LPD press release, witnesses say the suspect got away on foot.
