A Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index ranks Lafayette second in the nation among metropolitan areas for residents who are the most optimistic about the future of their city.

3 out of every 4 people surveyed in Lafayette feel the city is becoming a better place to live. 190 metropolitan areas were surveyed.

Coming ahead of Lafayette by a two-tenths of a percent margin was Provo-Orem, Utah. Binghamton, New York was ranked last as only 1 out of every 4 people polled were optimistic about the city's future.
