It's the final hurrah for Lafayette playing host to the Top 28 which has been the traditional family sporting event in Acadiana for fifteen straight years.

Lafayette lost the 2012 hosting bid to Shreveport, for at least the next two years.  According to the Lafayette Convention and Visitor Center numbers, the Top 28 poured four million dollars a year in the Lafayette economy.
