Concerns Rise Over New Louisiana Social Club Catering To ‘Swingers’
(Acadia Parish) - The creation of the Fantasies Lifestyle Club, which the creators say will be a social club, has started a serious debate in the towns of Branch and Mowata, as the swingers' club is in the process of being constructed, according to KLFY.
According to their website, Fantasies allows "couples, polys, single females and select single males" to join their club, but everyone must fill out a form before being accepted into the club. The swingers club has multiple rules that people who join the club must follow. You can click here to read their rules.
Their website states, "Fantasies is a private, by invite only, social club."
The Acadia Parish Police Jury will discuss the creation of this club in the town of Branch tonight. Many in the communities surrounding the club do not want it there. According to Police Juror Pat Daigle, they have received many complaints from residents who are deeply concerned about the club.
Acadia Parish Policy Jury Attorney Luke Dupre says complaints continue to come in and,
The takeaway is there are probably a lot of, you know, swingers in the community that nobody knows about. That’s not what the parish is regulating. The parish police jury does not regulate sex. We regulate businesses, especially businesses that concentrate activities, which lead to more criminal conduct, health problems, public health issues, and other things that studies have shown.
The kind of ordinance that would most to pass would likely center on restricting this kind of business, according to Dupre.
Mowata resident Michael Zaunbrecher says he doesn't want this business to be able to operate in their area. He says,
It just seems that lately there’s been some different issues popping up. We’ve got solar panels moving into our agricultural land and now we have a sex club popping up in the community and it’s just not the direction that I think the community should be headed in and I think around us, there are several communities that probably feel the same way. It’s just disheartening to see where things are headed.
The group that plans to operate the business explains on its website that it will be a BYOB establishment. In addition, there is a list of clubs, and you must be approved after filling out their registration form. There is also a dress code:
