A proposal by Lafayette Police Chief Toby Aguillard would give officers a 2% pay raise contingent upon tax revenue and changes in the local economy. This is something that Lafayette Fire has had in place for several years. Aguillard and representatives from the Lafayette Police Union joined Carol Ross on the Ross Report.

Aguillard said he would love to have the whole parish come together to give Sheriff's deputies the same pay raise. According to Aguillard and the police union, Sheriff Mark Garber has come out against the plan.
