UPDATE:  LSU officials announced the game will be moved to Tiger Stadium on Saturday. The time and TV broadcast information are yet to be determined, however.

ORIGINAL: Officials with the University of South Carolina hope to be able to announce a decision later today about when and where that university's football team will play LSU on Saturday.

The game was originally scheduled for 11am at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia South Carolina. Extensive flooding in the area has wreaked havoc on roadways and has many security personnel preoccupied with more pressing matters than college football.

The current most talked about scenarios if the game's location or time needs to be changed are these. The first is keeping the game in Columbia but moving the starting time back to later in the day. The second is moving the game to Baton Rouge and making it a Tiger home game. The third is moving the game to another city like Charlotte North Carolina where a stadium and security personnel will be available.

LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette told WWL  Radio last night the move to a neutral site might be the most difficult to accomplish in such a short time.

The problem with going to some of those neutral sites is now you're moving two teams instead of just one team. If we were able to go there, obviously South Carolina would stay put, we go to them. If they come here to play us, we stay put and them come here.

Obviously the best case scenario would mean keeping the game in South Carolina but it is a distinct possibility that the game could be played at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. If it does get moved, what does that mean for Tiger fans who want to attend?

If we're asked to host this game in the next 24 hours, it's something that we can certainly do.

Bonnette went on to tell the Louisiana Radio Network that thanks to the internet and e-mail getting the word out to fans is not as big of a chore as it once was. Should the game be moved to Baton Rouge season ticket holders would get first priority much like a regularly scheduled LSU home game.

Officials hope to make a decision on when and where the game will be played by mid-afternoon today. Please watch this site for update information throughout the day.
