Manufacturing Plant Leaving Bastrop

There's bad economic news to report in Morehouse Parish. Southern Plug and Manufacturing will not rebuild its plant after it was destroyed by a fire last month. West Monroe Senator Michael Walsworth says the decision will eliminate 50 full-time jobs. The plant began operation in 1978 and has been shutdown since a fire on November 5th. Walsworth says Southern Plug and Manufacturing's decision to leave comes one week after DG Foods announced plans for a chicken processing plant in Bastrop that will employ 300 workers. Walsworth says Bastrop and the state worked hard to keep Southern Plug.
