Lafayette Parish Sheriff's runoff candidate Mark Garber says he and his supporters were thrilled with Saturday night's runoff victory.

Garber says while there was much celebrating, his focus is clearly on winning the race for sheriff.

He says, "Our plan has remained the same. He says his plan is to continue my positive message focused on qualifications, education and experience."

When asked about why he received so many votes in the primary, Garber had this to say,

"Because it's a positive message and because I am bringing in experience as a street cop, investigative experience at a white collar criminal level, narcotics experience, federal state and local crime experience and also my educational background. I have a bachelor's of criminal justice from Louisiana State University with a minor is sociology and psychology.  I have a law degree from Southern Methodist University, and I've practiced his here as an attorney with the D.A.'s office for over six years as a felony prosecutor, and bringing all that together, my outside experience. I feel like I'm bringing that experience back to the people and the voters of Acadiana."
