For the ones you love that are 65 and older today is a really important day as medicare enrollment begins today. According to the Medicare website the people who were part of the original version of Medicare or Medicare Advantage have from today until the deadline of December 7th to get themselves signed up for the program next year.

If folks do not sign up for the program by December the 7th then they may face action in the form of penalties.

If you are 65 and older then Medicare says he are automatically enrolled in the Medicare Part A portion of the program. The part of the program does not cost seniors anything, and that is the program that ensures you can be hospitalized for treatment if there is an emergency or other health concern.

All the other benefits that come under the program, are the services that you have to enroll yourself in as a senior. Medicare Part B convers things like outpatient care, visits to your doctor's office, surgical services, supples, and medcial supplies, and officials with the Medicare program say the premiums will be going up slightly this coming year. It will cost a little more in 2012 per month than the current cost of one hundred fifteen dollars.

Medicare Part D covers prescripton drugs, and all of those must be research for each customer, so you can choose what you want and what you are willing to pay for it. Medicare Part C is also known as Medicare Advantage. It's a private form of Medicare and is subsidized by the federal government.
