To say tonight's Vermilion Parish School Board meeting could get interesting is like saying there's a pretty good chance it's going to be hot sometime in August. The weather is going to be hot, that's for sure and tonight's school board meeting in Abbeville could rival the outside temperature.

It's just the latest in the seemingly never-ending saga involving the Vermilion Parish School Superintendent Jerome Puyau and some members of the Vermilion Parish School Board. A few weeks ago the board voted to suspend Puyau from his position. Mr. Puyau, who according to the board should be on paid administrative leave, has shown up for work every day since that suspension.

Tonight it could be the President and Vice-President of the School Board that receive an invitation to not show up. According to a report on KATC TV's website board member Chris Gautreaux plans to introduce a motion that would call for the removal of Board President Laura LeBeouf and Vice-President Kibbie Pilette.

Meanwhile, despite the drama at the School Board Office the teachers and students of Vermilion Parish are taking care of business in the classroom. Vermilion Parish is ranked as one of the higher-performing school districts in the state.
