NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy.

Prosecutors said the life sentence handed down Wednesday to 46-year-old Rodney Bolton was statutorily required because he had two prior felony drug convictions.

In August, a jury convicted Bolton and another man, Todd Daggs, of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin.

Daggs was sentenced to life in prison on Dec. 1.
