NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace Drives ‘Black Lives Matter’ Car In Last Night’s Race

NASCAR continues a shocking run of "firsts" over the last few weeks.

Starting with NASCAR being the first major US Sport to return to regular season competition. Then NASCAR had its first pre-race Black Lives Matter statements. Followed quickly by NASCAR banning the confederate flag. Now last night, another first, as driver Bubba Wallace drove his #43 car under a 'Black Lives Matter' design.

Wallace arrived at this past Sunday's race wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt before the race, before calling on NASCAR to ban the confederate flag. During Sunday's race events, NASCAR President Steve Phelps issued a statement over driver's and team headsets, and on the television broadcast, on race relations in our country. Driver's cut their engines for the statement, and a moment of silence, as crew members held up Black Lives Matter shirts. Then, NASCAR released a video of drivers addressing the issue.

Then on Wednesday (June 10th), as NASCAR prepared to run their second race this week, Wallace and Richard Petty Motorsports unveiled their #43 with a 'Black Lives Matter' design. Though many online reacted to the events surrounding Wallace with an outpouring of racism and ill will, major sports stars from other sports took notice. Before last night's race, Wallace called it the biggest race of his career. Which he turned into his career-best NASCAR finish, even with some issues the team had with the car late in the race.
