There will be a new farmer's market coming to Lafayette soon, and it will be a new venue for Acadiana area farmers to sell their products.

The Lafayette Horse Farm will host a Farmers and Artisans Market that will feature fresh produce, seafood, art and music.

City-Parish President Joey Durel shared the news about the farmer's market when he joined, "Mornings With Ken and Bernie" for his "Lafayette Live" segment on Thursday.

Durel added that it will also include French immersion speaking activities.

Durel says the Saturday morning farmer's markets will offer fresh produce and other homemade goods from rural areas.

Durel says the market will also offer citizens a chance to buy fresh seafood, and profits raised from booth rentals will benefit the Horse Farm.

Organizers hope to open the market every Saturday, beginning June 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. The Horse Farm will stay open until 2 p.m.
