One Ticket Wins $222.6 Million Powerball – Texas Lottery Confirms

We'll have to ask our sources at the Texas Lottery in Austin if the "rule of three" applies to lottery games as it often does in celebrity deaths. You know the "rule of three", right?  If you're not familiar with it the "rule of three" is a popular assumption that if a famous person passes away, there will be two more other famous people to die in the next couple of days.

I know, it's quite dreadful and has really nothing to do with the Texas Lottery or the Powerball unless you believe that a winner on Saturday in the Mega Millions game, and now a winner on Monday in the Powerball game will lead to another big winner in one of the major lottery games available in Texas.

Use these numbers as a reference but before you attempt to cash your ticket please verify the numbers at either the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Both of those sites allow you to input ticket numbers to verify that they are winners. The sites can also tell you exactly what your prize is and what steps you need to take to claim that prize.

Our sources at the Texas Lottery were able to confirm that a single ticket was a big winner in Monday's Powerball. Unfortunately, that confirmation showed the big ticket winner was not sold in Texas. Powerball game officials concurred with the Texas Lottery assessment and announced that the $222.6 million prize was attached to a ticket that was sold in New Jersey.

Now, there were some big-money winners sold in Texas for Monday's Powerball, just not the jackpot winner. The Texas Lottery confirmed one ticket sold in the state matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball to claim a prize of $50,000. We don't have point-of-purchase information on that ticket, so if you played, do check your numbers.
