Opelousas, Louisiana Native Among Three Killed in Tennessee Plane Crash

A well-known Baton Rouge plastic surgeon was among three people who died in a plane crash in Tennessee on Wednesday.

According to reports, Dr. Lucius "Tre" Doucet, a native of Opelousas, took off in the single-engine Beechcraft V35 in which he owns just before 9:00 am from the Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales. Also on board were two unidentified passengers.

A family source said that Doucet was the pilot.

Investigators said the destination of the flight was Louisville, Kentucky.

The plane, however, crashed in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee, which is about 45 minutes south of Nashville. The crash happened around noon.

WTVF television in Nashville reported that audio from Air Traffic Control discussed the plane starting to descend from 9,000 feet. It talked about the plane having options to land 16 miles north.

The last communication it had to the plane was that air traffic controllers saw the plane heading back south.

The plane broke apart in the air, according to emergency authorities.

Emergency officials said they received a 911 call from a resident around 12:05 pm who said a potential explosion happened, and that he saw debris.

Doucet was 62 years old and according to reports, has been affiliated with several hospitals in the Greater Baton Rouge area and operates a couple of cosmetic locations.

Dr. Doucet leaves behind three children.

The identity of the other two people who perished in the crash has not been made public yet. Williamson County Chief Deputy Mark Elrod said the names of the victims are expected to be publicly released today.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the plane crash.
