Plaquemines Parish President Sends Letter To President Obama

Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser plans to send a letter to President Barack Obama today asking him to meet with coastal leaders who are still dealing with the aftermath of the BP oil spill.

Nungesser says he would like to see the President return to the area prior to the one-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Nungesser says they want to tell the President that oil is still washing ashore and the deepwater drilling permitting process needs to be streamlined to help oil companies get back to work in the Gulf. Nungesser is proposing the federal government should hire rig marshals to help ease the concerns of having another deepwater drilling disaster.
