With so many graduation ceremonies being reduced to glorified Face Time chats because of the coronavirus it's nice to see some graduates will have a speaker or two to remember. That certainly appears to be the plan for Southern University's virtual graduation that's planned for this Saturday.

After all, it's not every day a former President of the United States addresses your class. Oh, and Barack Obama isn't the only name of note who will be utilizing technology to motivate and empower the graduating class of 2020. Comedian Kevin Hart is also expected to speak along with actor Omari Hardwick, and businesswoman Mellody Hobson.

The celebration is part of an initiative by Chase Bank. The financial institution is using these virtual platforms across the country to highlight the achievements of more than 20,000 students at historically black colleges and universities.

The ceremonies are scheduled to begin online this Saturday, May 16th, at 1 pm. In addition to the celebrity guests and speakers, all campuses across the Southern University System will participate with remarks from chancellors at each location also scheduled to address the virtual audience assembled online.
