Previewing Sunday’s Wild Card Matchups
Sunday's NFL games begin at noon, and they feature two pretty intriguing matchups.
The Baltimore Ravens host the Indianapolis Colts in game one. The Colts (11-5) actually have a better record than the Ravens (10-6), but have to travel because they're a wild card team, finishing second to Houston in the AFC South. The Colts, after a 2-14 record a year ago, have been the surprise of the NFL, riding rookie quarterback Andrew Luck and wide receiver T. J. Hilton into a playoff spot. The game is a reunion for Indy head coach Chuck Pagano, who was on the Ravens' staff last season.
The game could also be the last for Baltimore's Ray Lewis who has announced his retirement effective at the end of the season.
In the nightcap, beginning at 3:30, the Seattle Seahawks travel cross country to take on Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. Just like the noontime game, the wild-card team (Seattle, 11-5) has a better record than the division champion they're facing (Washington 10-6). Griffin has led the Redskins to seven straight wins and their victory over Dallas last Sunday won the NFC East. Seattle has been solid as well, with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson leading the charge. Seattle has been unbeatable at home, but very ordinary on the road this year, and Seattle historically hasn't been a very good road team in the playoffs.
