Organizers held a march for Trayvon Martin yesterday in DeBaillon Park in Lafayette.  Trayvon Martin is the 17-year-old Florida boy who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch captain.  Those who attended the event had a variety of comments to make including one supporter of the march who said, "racial profiling must end".   Many marchers in the Lafayette event wore hoodies and carried packs of skittles and bottles of iced tea.  It has been reported that Trayvon Martin was wearing a hoody when the shooting take place.  In Trayvon Martin's hands, in addition to his cell phone, were a pack of Skittles and a bottle of iced tea.

In a different story, police in New Orleans says an officer resigned last week after some comments that were made about the Trayvon Martin case.  Authorities say Jason Giroir used his full name and identity as a New Orleans police officer when he decided to make a comment on a news story about Trayvon Martin on a television station's website.  His suggested the Florida teen died like a "thug".  The exact quote from Giroir was "Act like a thug die like one!" which he posted on the WWL-TV website about a rally supporting Martin.
