There are five different candidates vying to be the new Lafayette City Council District One representative.

Sarah Gauthier Roy, one of the candidates, spoke with KPEL about some of the issues that her constituents have been speaking to her about while she has walked door to door.

She says that while drainage and infrastructure are two of the top priorities, the lack of growth and opportunity in the district has left constituents with few choices. She is hoping to change that.
