Lafayette based Schumacher Group announced this week that will be laying off more people.  There will be 42 people nationwide with 32 of the positions being eliminated in Louisiana.

This is the third time this year that Schumacher is laying off employees.

The Lafayette-based health care firm is blaming the downsizing on the Affordable Care Act and other factors.

President Gary Keller says Schumacher is experiencing the same struggles as the hospitals they serve.

He says the federal Affordable Care Act will mean major changes to their industry including reductions in hospital reimbursements by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance companies.

He says all of these factors will affect their company, and the clients they serve.

The company will give laid-off workers 30 days of pay, benefits through November and help in finding new employment.
