Sean Payton & Adrian Peterson Deny Heated Exchange [Video]
You may have noticed late in the first half of the Saints abysmal display versus the Vikings, a visually heated exchange between running back Adrian Peterson and head coach Sean Payton. Apparently that wasn't the case.
I definitely noticed this happen when the game was on. I had the same thought that everyone else did. This was not a good situation. Peterson was playing his first game with the Saints, against the only other professional team that he's played for.
However, in post-game interviews, both Payton and Peterson denied any heated exchanges.
Peterson said this during the interview when asked about the video clip:
"There's no conflict. Let's not try to spin it like it is. There's no conflict. I got a lot of respect for coach Payton and his offense. He's a great mind. We're going to learn from this."
"This" referring to the game, not the exchange.
Sean Payton wasn't aware of any heated exchanges between the two.
"We weren't in any heated exchange," he said. "I'd tell you if we were in a heated exchange, so why don't you ask him? I think he was into it; we were all into it. There was none that I can recall, and I'm being honest."
Obviously this "exchange" was something that most people caught on to, as Peterson added:
"It's not my first time being in situations where ... people jump to conclusions and make their own assumptions when they didn't have no idea what's going on or what was said," he said. "I could've said, 'I love you.'
"But it's no issue. We have bigger fish to fry."
He's very right. Even if there was some exchange, and the two want to keep it between them, that's fine. They've obviously moved passed it, and so should we. We have no idea what was actually said.
